What is it? An incredible three days which bring together musicians from all over the world. This is the place to get into the groove with the unique rhythms of zouk, zydeco, cadence, compass and soukous. Expect to see artists from Cuba, Africa, Haiti and the States mixing it with the locals. In previous years Sean Paul, Shaggy and Wyclef Jean have been headline acts. When is it? October 30th-Nov 1st Where is it? Roseau, Dominica
What should
I say if somebody asks me about it? Tell them Dominica’s culture and
language is strongly tinged by French creole influences, which is
reflected in the music. Though other island rhythms such as calypso and
reggae are popular, the spicy, fast-paced sounds of zouk and zydeco are
preferred at this festival. There, now you sound like an expert. |
