(Issue 3: April 2009) Billion dollar wreck A British ship laden with precious treasure has reportedly been found off the coast of Guyana. The ship, believed to have been torpedoed by the German U-87 submarine in 1942, apparently went down with gold, platinum and diamonds worth billions of dollars. Obama street Martinique has commemorated Barack Obama’s historic rise to the presidency of the US by naming a street in his honour. The newly dubbed Rue Obama extends from the heart of the picturesque city of Le Diamant to the sea. Creole dictionary The first comprehensive dictionary of the English/Creole languages of Trinidad and Tobago has been published. Edited by Lise Winer of McGill University, the dictionary comprises more than 12,200 entries including over 4500 for flora and fauna alone. Winer draws from a wide range of sources to show the wealth and depth of the language.
